About Us

What We Do

There is considerable scientific knowledge about what activities and what mindsets lead to increased well-being, happiness, and human flourishing. For example, good relationships and strong friendships plus ties to one’s local community are correlated with both longer life and a higher quality of life. Keeping a daily gratitude journal, daily meditation, and interval training type exercise also have been found to correlate with increases in well-being.

The Armchair Vertigo Institute aggregates, as well as sometimes performs, scientific and philosophical research, which is conducted in the public interest such as research and reporting on the philosophy of the meaning of life and the psychology of happiness.

The Armchair Vertigo Institute facilitates and organizes instruction and training on subjects useful to the individual and to the community. These may take the form (but are not limited to): online classes, workshops, webinars, and conferences as well as brick-and-mortar classes, workshops, and conferences.

Mission Statement

The Armchair Vertigo Institute aims at the betterment of well people via community building, online classes, in-person workshops, and special events focused on the topics of philosophy, human flourishing, positive psychology, and the meaning of life.
